Amanda J. Moors, Research Biologist
Education:
B.S.; Texas A&M University
Research Expertise and Interests:
Amanda brings experience in microbiology and animal sciences from her studies at Texas A&M University. Amanda’s research goals are to implement cryogenic environmental specimen banking activities through the collection of marine animal tissues, including marine mammals and Alaskan colonial seabirds. She is also interested in the development of protocols for specimen banking under cleanroom conditions and contaminant sampling.
Before coming to NIST in 2005, Amanda was the Education Coordinator at the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur, Texas. There, she taught students about environmental stewardship, Texas history, and the arts. Prior working at the Museum, Amanda was an Education Presenter at Disney’s Animal Kingdom where she gave education presentations to guests concerning the conservation and preservation of invertebrates and vertebrates.
